Young Authors
We have had students participate in Young Authors for many years on a voluntary basis doing all of their writing outside of school, but this year, all students Kindergarten through 5th grade at both Hedding and AES will participate utilizing the narrative writing skills they have learned through our writing curriculum and with the assistance of Mrs. Knuth, the writing coach. Students will be given time during the 3 week window, to write and illustrate their original story. First, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in each grade level. Winners will have their books bound to put in the Hedding library, and get to attend a Family Night to share their stories with family, friends and other winners. They will then have the option to attend the Young Authors Conference in Bloomington sometime in May.
