Celebration of the Class of 2020 Procession Through Abingdon and Avon

First, we want to thank everyone for their cooperation during the Graduation Photo Opportunity. We enjoyed seeing students and families.

Secondly, we are planning on holding the Celebration of the Class of 2020 Procession this Sunday at 2:00 pm with a rain date of Saturday May 23rd.

In conjunction with our local police departments, the following non-negotiables are in place for the Procession.

1. Vehicles may enter the High School Parking lot off of Martin beginning at 1:30 PM.

2. One vehicle per graduate.

3. No trailers will be allowed.

4. Nothing may be thrown from vehicles in the procession.

We strongly recommend that students not do the driving - it is easier (and safer) to soak up all the congratulatory attention as a passenger.

Graduate vehicles must enter the parking lot through the West entrance on Martin St. Once in the parking lot, the vehicles will snake through the parking lot around to the main High School entrance. Graduates will have an opportunity to pick-up their diploma as part of the procession. After receiving their diploma, graduate vehicles will proceed to the bus barn to line-up behind a school bus for the procession. The route will include Lower St, a loop on Main St., and then West on Martin St. Once we reach Rt. 41, the procession will head South to Avon for a trip down Rt. 41 to Cortland to Madison to Washington and back to 41 for a return trip North. Once the procession crosses Woods St. on Rt. 41 North, it will officially end.

We want to remind spectators to practice proper social distancing while cheering on our graduates.

We want to encourage our graduates to decorate their vehicles in a manner that celebrates their current and future successes.

We want to thank KGS Electric and the Christian Church of Abingdon for allowing parking on their properties. Additionally, Main St. in Abingdon has many parking spots as does Main St. in Avon.

Thank you for your cooperation and we hope to see as many graduates as possible this Sunday.

If the weather does not cooperate this Sunday, the procession will be held on Saturday the 23rd at 2:00 pm. If on either date a cancellation or postponement is necessary it will be sent out by 1:00 pm.
