WE REMEMBER. WE HONOR. WE THANK YOU.

Before Friday night’s A-Town vs. Farmington football game, our Abingdon-Avon High School community came together for a special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony—a meaningful moment to pause, remember, and honor the lives lost and the heroes who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

A special THANK YOU to everyone who serves our communities and our country—our veterans, military members, firefighters, police officers, and first responders. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment will never be forgotten.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this ceremony so meaningful:

Abingdon American Legion Honor Guard for the 21-gun salute, and all of their help with putting the 9/11 pregame remembrance together

Veteran Mr. Bob Haynes for taking part in the coin flip and representing our veterans

Illinois National Guard for bringing the tunnel, smoke show, use of National Guard football jerseys and large American flag for our A-Town and Farmington football players and cheerleaders to hold together

Phillip Wolford and his crew of Stearman pilots for the incredible flyover

A-Town Choir for singing our National Anthem

Ali Janssen for beautifully playing Taps

Hale Brown for his outstanding announcing and helping guide us through the evening

Abingdon Fire Department for bringing the fire engine and adding extra lights and noise to our touchdown celebrations

Knox County Police Department for their support

Our A-Town student-athletes for participating and representing our school with pride

The Farmington community, student-athletes, and cheerleaders for joining us in this special tribute and helping make the evening about something bigger than the game.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who came out and supported our athletes and our community.

Friday night reminded us that while we may compete on the field, we can stand together in remembrance and gratitude.

A special thank you to Aaron Winski, Abby Stier @ Double Nickel Photo, and David Giagoni for the photos. These are just a few of many that were taken that night by some great photographers

We remember those we lost.
We honor those who served.
We thank those who continue to serve.
And we stand together as ONE COMMUNITY. 🇺🇸
Never Forget. 9/11/2001

✋💚💛 HIGH FIVE FRIDAY! 💛💚

What better way to kick off the weekend than with a hallway full of high fives, smiles and A-Town spirit! ✋

Our A-Town High School football players and cheerleaders stopped by Hedding Elementary for High Five Friday, cheering on our youngest students and helping them start their day with a little extra excitement!

It’s about more than football and cheer—it’s about building connections, creating memories and showing our elementary students that they have an entire community cheering them on. 💚💛

We love seeing our older students being positive role models for the next generation of A-Town!

ONE COMMUNITY. ONE TEAM. 💚💛

A-Town Choir Preparing for 9/11

The A-Town Choir is preparing for a very special performance at Friday night’s home football game. Students gathered on the field this week to rehearse the National Anthem, which they will perform before the game on September 11.

Their voices will help set the tone for an evening of remembrance, gratitude, and community as we honor the lives lost and the heroes who served and sacrificed on 9/11.

We are proud of our A-Town students for representing our school and community with such a meaningful tribute. 🇺🇸❤️💙
