
A-Town would also like to recognize Robert Hugo Dunlap (October 19, 1920 – March 24, 2000) from Abingdon who was an United States Marine Corps major who received the Medal of Honor for heroism above and beyond the call of duty as a captain of a rifle company during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. Dunlap Gymnasium is named in his honor.


Happy Veterans Day to all who have served our country! A-Town would like to recognize James Bond Stockdale (December 23, 1923 – July 5, 2005) from Abingdon who was an United States Navy vice admiral and aviator awarded the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War, during which he was an prisoner of war for over seven years. Stockdale Auditorium is named in his honor.

The football team will travel to Milledgeville for a 1:00 kick off Saturday in the first round of the IHSA Class 1A football playoffs. Travel arrangements are still pending. Advanced ticket sales will be available at TBD time. Also seating is limited at Milledgeville. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
