Winter Driving Advisory from A-Town

about 1 month ago, Mrs. Anderson, Principal
1
As the first significant winter storm is upon us, we would like to remind everyone of the protocol at Abingdon-Avon in respect to cancellations of athletics and activities for the season. 1- If it is a school day and Abingdon-Avon cancels school, all practices and games will be canceled for that evening. This includes all non-school affiliated programs taking place in Abingdon-Avon schools. There is an exception for multiple day cancellations, which will be shared that if that scenario ever comes up this year. 2- If Abingdon-Avon does not cancel school or it is an event on a day we are not in attendance, cancellation of one event does not mean all events will be canceled. We will use the following guiding questions to determine if your specific event is canceled: A- Is it safe to make it Abingdon- Avon schools to practice or compete? B- Can our opponent make it safely to Abingdon- Avon schools and home? C- If we are traveling, can we make is safely to the host and back? D- What is the start and end time for the event? Please note that it is entirely possible for one event to get canceled and the rest to still take place as scheduled if Abingdon-Avon is in session. Just because one event is canceled does not mean that it will be a blanket decision across the board. We might have no weather at home but our opponent has different weather in their area or the timing of the event allows us to avoid a cancelation. All cancellations will be posted online and shared with coaches. Please be patient and if you or your athlete has any questions about their specific event, please contact your coach directly.

Today was a busy but fun day in Mrs. Carreon's First Grade class. They had their Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Celebration today. Thank you very much for the donations, it was greatly appreciated. Mrs. Maher came in and read two stories to the class today. They also made butter in a mason jar-it was used on the toast during our celebration today. It turned out great! The class also thought of 20 things to be thankful this month!
